Abstract

Anemia in pregnant women is a serious health issue that can affect both the mother's health and fetal development. This study aims to evaluate the level of knowledge among pregnant women about anemia and its correlation with anemia severity in the working area of Puskesmas Gogagoman, Kotamobagu City. This research employed a quantitative descriptive approach with a cross-sectional design and observational methods through interviews guided by a questionnaire. The study population consisted of 31 pregnant women selected through total sampling. Data were collected using a Likert scale (1-5) questionnaire and analyzed to identify the relationship between mothers' knowledge about anemia and the severity of anemia. The results indicated a significant relationship between mothers' knowledge and anemia severity, with a p-value of 0.002. The majority of respondents were adults (93.54%), with the highest education level being high school (48.39%), and most had fewer than three children (87.1%). The study concludes that the level of mothers' knowledge about anemia significantly affects the severity of anemia in their babies. Therefore, it is recommended to enhance health education programs focusing on anemia prevention and management, especially for mothers with lower educational levels, and to implement targeted interventions and training for healthcare providers to ensure effective information dissemination and early detection of anemia.
